Staff of INTRAN partner organisations can benefit from free training.
 

INTRAN Staff Training

The INTRAN staff training has become a regular feature of INTRAN and has given confidence to thousands of staff in using an interpreter or a lipspeaker. There are twenty-four staff training sessions organised every year. Each session lasts two hours. Staff working for all INTRAN organisations can attend free of charge.

The aim of the training is to encourage staff to create equal access to people who cannot communicate in English and to deaf people. The session will help you make the most effective use of interpreters and your workplace accessible. Some concrete demonstrations using interpreters will also be part of the training. Each delegate receives an information pack and some resources helping to make their workplace accessible to non-English speakers.

Deaf ConneXions Communication Tactics Training

Deaf ConneXions are giving those partners of INTRAN based in Norfolk 20 free sessions on Communication Tactics, the aim of the course is to give background information about deafness, provide a basic level of communication skills for those who will come into contact with deaf people and look at the practical steps necessary to create the best conditions for communicating with deaf people.

These courses will be offered on a first come first served basis and will run from April 2011 to the end of March 2012.
